Glenfarclas 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from one of Scotland's last remaining family-owned independent distilleries, founded in 1836 and owned by the Grant family since 1865, now run by sixth-generation George S. Grant. Matured entirely in ex-oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 43% ABV, the 12 Year Old is produced using some of Speyside's largest direct-fired stills and follows Glenfarclas's traditional refusal to finish whiskies in exotic wood. Expect a rich, generous style with dried fruit, honey, toffee and a hint of warming spice, reflecting the heavy sherry influence the distillery is known for. This expression has won multiple awards in international sherried-whisky competitions. A classic Highland dram, it is excellent neat, with a splash of water, or alongside dark chocolate and dried fruit.
