Organic Wines
Certified organic means no synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers in the vineyard, and an independent body, Ecocert or one of its equivalents under the French AB mark, inspecting the estate and its records once a year to confirm it. The certificate belongs to the grower rather than to the bottle: it describes how the fruit was farmed, and says nothing about what was done in the cellar afterwards. Domaine Dujac, Domaine de Montille, Jean-Jacques Confuron and Jean-Marc et Hugues Pavelot in Savigny all work this way, alongside smaller estates such as Thollet - Petite Gallée in the Coteaux du Lyonnais and Figuière in Provence.
