Vintage2020
Domaine Clusel-Roch's Côte-Rôtie Les Grandes Places, 2020 vintage, is a Syrah red from the steep terraced slopes at the northern end of Côte-Rôtie, made from the plot where Baptiste and Marguerite Clusel planted the family's first vines in 1935. The estate took the name Clusel-Roch in 1989, when Gilbert Clusel and Brigitte Roch took it on, and their son Guillaume has run it since 2009, on schist and mica-schist soils. Expect dark berry and black olive, violet aromatics and the peppery spice of Côte-Rôtie Syrah, with firm tannins. It is the source of the massale-selected Serine replanted across the estate. Serve with braised beef, lamb or game, after several years in bottle.
