Vintage2022
"Très Vieilles Vignes" is an old-vine red Auxey-Duresses from Domaine Alain Gras, the family estate based in neighbouring Saint-Romain on Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, where Alain Gras took over the family vines in 1979 and became the first of his line to bottle them. It is a village-level cuvée, not a premier cru. Made from Pinot Noir grown on the clay-limestone soils of the valley west of Meursault, it shows red fruit and an earthy character, with the extra concentration of old vines. At 13% alcohol, the 2022 balances ripeness with the vintage's freshness. Pair with roast duck, coq au vin, or a mushroom tart. Alain Gras's son Arthur now works alongside him at the domaine.
