International Orders & Delivery

Wine is subject to excise duty and to import rules that vary from one country to another. For the countries listed at checkout, we have done that work in advance: choose your address, see the transport cost calculated on your order, and pay. For every other destination we quote your shipment individually, so you pay the real cost of the right route and nothing more.

France

Orders delivered within mainland France are handled entirely at checkout: choose your delivery method, see the cost calculated on the weight of your order, and pay. Prices include French VAT (TTC).

Deliveries within the European Union

For the EU countries offered in the list at checkout, transport is priced and paid at checkout, and VAT is charged at the rate of your country of delivery — not the French rate. The figure you see at checkout is the final one.

Excise duty is cleared by us and included in the price for deliveries to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Together with France, these are the only EU destinations we price automatically at checkout, and you have nothing to pay on delivery.

Every other EU country is handled the way the quotation route below describes. We are not able to complete the excise formalities ourselves there, so rather than leave you with a tax to settle on arrival, we arrange carriage through a logistics provider licensed in your country. You order tax inclusive, select “Self pick-up” at checkout, and we send you an exact quotation before anything moves.

Deliveries outside the European Union

For the non-EU countries offered in the list at checkout, transport is again priced and paid at checkout. The VAT and the excise duty of the destination country are charged to the receiver on import, by the carrier or by the local customs authority, and are not collected by us.

Everywhere else — a quotation made for you

If your country does not appear in the list at checkout, we still ship to you. We simply need to price the route first:

  1. At checkout, select “Self pick-up”. No shipping cost is charged at that stage.
  2. Our team contacts you with a transport quotation to your address, tailored to the destination, the volume and the value of your order.
  3. We arrange transport only once you have accepted the quotation.

Until you have approved our transport quote, you can cancel your order at any time and receive a full refund, at no cost and without giving a reason.

Collecting in person

You are equally welcome to collect your bottles yourself in Beaune (21200), France, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding public holidays. Please call +33 (0)3 80 22 00 85 before coming, and bring your confirmation email.

Insurance

Transport cover against theft, breakage and loss of the parcel is available on every order as an optional line, Transport insurance, which you can add when you review your basket. It costs €12, and it is offered — free — on every order of €1,200 and above: the charge is removed automatically in your basket, with no code to enter.

The cover does not extend to stained or torn labels, and damaged wax capsules are compensated at 20% of the value of the bottle only. Heat damage is compensated only where the bottle shows leakage on the outside or a cork pushed out of its seat; without those marks, wine that has suffered from temperature gives no right to compensation. No carrier can guarantee the temperature of a standard parcel, and no insurer covers what cannot be guaranteed. Full details on the Shipping Insurance page.

Temperature

When the forecast along your route is against us, we contact you after your order and before anything is dispatched. You choose: we hold your bottles until temperatures allow, at no cost, or we ship immediately and you sign a short disclaimer accepting the risk. For bottles that cannot wait, we can arrange express transport in an insulated case with a thermal shield and dry ice, or temperature-controlled delivery to certain destinations — both quoted case by case. VAT refund for visitors to France

Prices are displayed VAT inclusive (TTC). Customers residing outside the EU and visiting France can reclaim the 20% French VAT through our partner ZappTax — see the détaxe / tax-free procedure.
