Saint-Émilion — Premier Grand Cru Classé A
Premier Grand Cru Classé A is the top tier of the Saint-Émilion classification. Since the 2022 revision only two châteaux hold it: Château Pavie and Château Figeac.
The tier is smaller than it was. Ausone, Cheval Blanc and Angélus all withdrew from the 2022 classification and are now unclassified, though their pre-2022 vintages carry the A status they held under the 2012 ranking — those are listed separately under Formerly Premier Grand Cru Classé A.
Unlike the 1855 Bordeaux classification, Saint-Émilion's is revised roughly every decade, so this tier reflects the 2022 ranking, valid through the 2031 harvest.
