Ron Barceló Imperial is a premium rum from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, produced by Ron Barceló, a house founded in 1930 and now sold in more than 70 countries. Unusually for a Dominican rum, Barceló Imperial is distilled from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses, using cane grown on the company's own estates. The rum is a blend of aged rums matured in ex-bourbon barrels for up to ten years, giving it a rich, coppery colour. Barceló Imperial has twice been named "Best Rum in the World" by the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago. Expect notes of toffee, roasted nuts, vanilla and warming spice, with a smooth, full-bodied finish. Bottled at 38% alcohol in a 70cl format, it is best enjoyed neat, on ice, or in a classic rum cocktail.
