Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros is a family estate based in Vosne-Romanée, at the centre of the Côte de Nuits. Its modern history began in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, where Michel Gros inherited two hectares from his father Jean in 1978; the larger part of the holding came with the division of Jean Gros's domaine among his three children in 1995. Michel's son Pierre Gros has run the estate since 2019, with Michel still involved. It farms about 23 hectares.
The range runs the full height of the hierarchy. At the summit sit Richebourg Grand Cru, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Grand Maupertuis and Échézeaux Grand Cru Les Loächausses. Below them are the Vosne-Romanée Premiers Crus Aux Brûlées and Clos des Réas, the latter a monopole held by the family since 1860, and the Nuits-Saint-Georges Premiers Crus Les Vignerondes and Les Murgers. Village wines from Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis follow, with Bourgogne Côte d'Or and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits where it all started, including the Fontaine Saint-Martin monopole, in both colours.
The same low-yield farming is applied from Bourgogne Côte d'Or up to Grand Cru. Arcana Cabinet lists fifteen wines from the domaine, from Hautes-Côtes de Nuits to Richebourg.
