Rhum Clément is one of Martinique's most historic rum houses, founded when Homère Clément purchased the Domaine de l'Acajou estate in Le François in 1887 and later built a distillery there in 1917. Clément was a pioneer of rhum agricole, the style distilled from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses, which gives Martinique rum its distinctive grassy, vegetal character. This Single Cask bottling comes from one individual barrel rather than a blended batch, offering a more distinctive, less standardised expression of the distillery's style, bottled at a robust 41.6% ABV in a 50cl format. Expect notes of fresh cane, tropical fruit, vanilla and spice from cask ageing. Best enjoyed neat or with a single ice cube to appreciate its character, or in a classic Martinique-style rum punch.
