Vintage2020
This village Chassagne-Montrachet rouge from old vines is produced by Domaine Bernard Moreau, a family estate whose roots in the appellation date back to 1809 and which is now run by sixth-generation Alexandre Moreau. The domaine took the name Domaine Alex Moreau from the 2021 vintage; earlier vintages, such as this 2020, carry the Bernard Moreau label. Around 30% of the domaine's 14 hectares is devoted to Pinot Noir, farmed with minimal intervention and no herbicide use for over fifteen years. The 2020 Burgundy vintage was warm and dry, with an early harvest and naturally low yields, producing ripe, concentrated reds with soft, approachable tannins. It shows dark cherry, plum and a savoury spice, with the depth that older vines bring. Pair with roast chicken, duck, or a mushroom-based dish.
