La Souteronne is the single Gamay cuvée from Hervé Souhaut's Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet, from vines of eighty to a hundred years on granite soils around Arlebosc, in the Doux valley in the northern Ardèche. Souhaut founded the domaine in 1993 with his wife Béatrice. Fermentation is whole-cluster and semi-carbonic on native yeast, and the wine is bottled with around 25 mg/l of sulphur. Expect crunchy red fruit, a peppery edge and light-footed texture. Serve lightly chilled with charcuterie, roast poultry or a bistro beef dish. Select your preferred vintage and format above.
