Vintage2019
Clos des Cessieux is one of Hervé Souhaut's two Saint-Joseph bottlings, made from old-vine Syrah on the appellation's granite terraces at Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. Souhaut founded Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet in 1993 at Arlebosc, in the northern Ardèche, with his wife Béatrice, and works the Saint-Joseph parcels as he does the Ardèche ones: native yeast, whole bunches, a long cool maceration and around 25 mg/l of sulphur at bottling. The 2019 shows dark berry fruit, black pepper and violet, with a fresh, savoury finish and moderate tannin. It goes with grilled lamb, charcuterie or roasted root vegetables.
