Vintage2017
Marne 180 is a single-vineyard Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG from Tedeschi, a winery founded by Nicolò Tedeschi in 1824 in the Valpolicella hills of the Veneto and now run by its fifth generation, siblings Antonietta and Sabrina alongside oenologist Riccardo Tedeschi. Its name refers to the marl soil of the vineyard and its south-facing exposure at 180 degrees. Made from a blend led by Corvina and Corvinone with Rondinella and smaller portions of Rossignola, Oseleta, Negrara and Dindarella, the grapes are dried for around four months using the traditional appassimento method before fermentation, then aged roughly three years in Slavonian oak and a further six months in bottle. This process gives Amarone its characteristic power, with dried cherry, raisin, dark chocolate, and warm spice on a rich, full-bodied palate with good structure and acidity. The 2017 vintage was a warm, concentrated year in Valpolicella. Pair with braised red meat, game, or aged cheeses.
