Bachelet-Ramonet
Domaine Bachelet-Ramonet is based in Chassagne-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune. Its name joins two vineyard families of the commune, the Bachelets and the Ramonets. Alain Bonnefoy and his wife Marie-Paule have run the estate since 1984. The vines lie mainly in Chassagne-Montrachet, with parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay.
Three grands crus head the holdings: Bâtard-Montrachet, which straddles Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet; Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, which lies wholly in Puligny; and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, wholly in Chassagne. In Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru the domaine works Les Caillerets, Les Grandes Ruchottes, La Grande Montagne, La Romanée, Clos Saint-Jean, Morgeot and Clos de la Boudriotte, the last bottled in red. The Chassagne climat La Romanée is a premier cru, and is not the Vosne-Romanée grand cru of the same name. Village Chassagne-Montrachet is made in both colours, alongside the Puligny-Montrachet lieu-dit Les Enseignères, the Santenay premier cru La Comme in red, and Bourgogne Côte d'Or in white and red.
The vineyards are farmed under lutte raisonnée, with the soils worked in place of herbicides; the estate holds no organic or biodynamic certification. Whites are raised in oak barrel for fourteen to sixteen months with bâtonnage, reds for fifteen to seventeen. The whites run to ripe stone fruit and almond over a saline, chalky finish; the reds show dark cherry and a savoury edge. Arcana Cabinet lists thirteen wines from the domaine: the Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet grands crus, five Chassagne-Montrachet premiers crus, village Chassagne in both colours, Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères, the Santenay premier cru La Comme, and Bourgogne Côte d'Or in both colours. The range also includes Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet and the Chassagne premiers crus Clos Saint-Jean and Morgeot.
