Vintage2021
Bavardages is a cuvée from Domaine Jeanne Germain, a tiny 1.7-hectare estate in the Saumur-Champigny appellation of the Loire Valley, run by Jeanne Germain, sister of Thierry Germain of the renowned Domaine des Roches Neuves. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, as required by the Saumur-Champigny appellation rules, the wine reflects Jeanne's hands-on, nature-focused approach, which includes using draft horses to plough parts of the vineyard rather than tractors. Saumur-Champigny is prized in the Loire for producing fresh, aromatic Cabernet Franc with notes of red fruit, violet, and a distinctive gravelly minerality drawn from the region's tuffeau limestone soils. Expect raspberry, blackcurrant leaf, and a light peppery spice on a bright, medium-bodied palate. Pair with roast chicken, charcuterie, or a lightly chilled summer dish. The 2021 vintage brings freshness and precision to this small-production Loire red.
