Green Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey produced for Mitchell & Son, a Dublin wine and spirits merchant founded in 1805, and distilled at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork. Made from a mix of malted and unmalted Irish barley, Green Spot is a non-age-statement whiskey typically blending pot still spirit aged between seven and ten years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. It is one of the last surviving examples of the historic "Spot" whiskeys, a style once bonded and sold directly by Dublin wine merchants. Expect aromas of orchard fruit, barley and spice, with a palate of green apple, toasted oak and a hint of clove leading to a warming, spicy finish. Bottled at 40% alcohol in 70cl, it is best enjoyed neat, with a splash of water, or in a classic Irish whiskey cocktail.
