Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron is a small family estate at Prémeaux-Prissey, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Jean-Jacques Confuron died in 1983; his daughter Sophie and her husband Alain Meunier took the estate on, and their son Louis now leads the winemaking on around eight hectares that include parcels of Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. This village Chambolle-Musigny is Pinot Noir, with the perfume of red cherry and violet over a silky tannic structure. The style is deliberate: a long cold soak before fermentation, then ageing in barrel. Serve with roast chicken, mushroom dishes or a simple veal preparation.
