Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is one of the nine grands crus of Gevrey-Chambertin and the one climat whose wine may also be sold as Chambertin. It is one of six grands crus farmed by Domaine Drouhin-Laroze, founded in Gevrey-Chambertin by Jean-Baptiste Laroze in 1850 and run today by Nicolas and Caroline Drouhin. The estate raises its grands crus in up to eighty per cent new oak from the Allier and Nivernais. Expect a deeply coloured red with dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, violet and spice, and firm tannin. Serve with roasted venison, braised beef or a mature Comté.
