Vintage2018
Domaine François Gaunoux's Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens, 2018 vintage, is a Pinot Noir red Burgundy from a Pommard premier cru vineyard named for its iron-rich red soil in the Côte de Beaune. The domaine, formed in 1972 when Henri Gaunoux's estate was divided between his sons, is now run by his granddaughter Claudine Gaunoux and her partner Jean-Pierre Tournier, and vinifies only fruit it farms itself. Les Rugiens is known for producing some of Pommard's most powerful, structured wines, and the 2018 shows dark cherry and blackberry fruit, earthy spice, and firm, age-worthy tannins. Pair with roast venison, braised beef, or a strong aged cheese.
