Vintage2019
Domaine François Gaunoux's Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes, 2019 vintage, is a Pinot Noir red Burgundy from a Volnay premier cru vineyard in the Côte de Beaune, known for elegance and perfume rather than sheer power. The domaine, split from the original Gaunoux family estate in 1972 and now run by Claudine Gaunoux with Jean-Pierre Tournier, farms and vinifies only its own fruit across Meursault, Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, and Puligny-Montrachet. Clos des Chênes shows red cherry and raspberry fruit, floral and spice notes, and the silky, refined tannins for which Volnay is known. Pair with roast duck, guinea fowl, or a mushroom tart.
