Vintage2017
Taille-Pieds is a premier cru climat in Volnay, on the slope above the village, and Bouchard Père & Fils, whose vineyard holdings date to the eighteenth century, bottles this 2017 as pure Pinot Noir. Volnay's thinner, more limestone soils, set against the heavier clay of neighbouring Pommard, give reds of lighter frame, fine tannin and floral, red-fruited aromatics. This 2017 shows red cherry, violet and a touch of spice at 13.5% alcohol, with the vintage's freshness now integrated after several years in bottle. It suits duck breast, roast lamb or a soft-ripened cheese.
