Vintage2018
Domaine Chantal Lescure, founded in 1975 and based at Nuits-Saint-Georges, farms about 19 hectares from Meursault to Vougeot and has been certified organic (Agriculture Biologique) since September 2009. The domaine was bought in January 2023 by Jean-Philippe Girard and Éric Rousseau; Fabrice Groussin makes the wines, after François Chavériat, who directed the vineyards and the cellar from 1996 until his retirement. Les Bertins is a premier cru vineyard on the southern side of Pommard, at the foot of the slope on brown limestone soils, where the domaine works about one hectare. This 2018 is made entirely from Pinot Noir. At 14.5% alcohol, reflecting the ripe growing season, expect dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, firm but well-integrated tannins and the earthy character of Pommard's clay and limestone soils. It is built to age for several years and suits braised beef, game or a mature Burgundian cheese.
