Vintage2019
Les Tuvilains is a premier cru climat of Beaune, in the Côte de Beaune. It is bottled by Marchand-Tawse, a négociant house founded on 1 January 2011 at Nuits-Saint-Georges by Pascal Marchand and Moray Tawse, and Pascal Marchand is still involved. He took charge of the Clos des Épeneaux at Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard at 22, then spent six years at Domaine de la Vougeraie. The house buys grapes and wine, and it also owns and farms parcels supplying roughly 30 per cent of its fruit. Of those, the Domaine Tawse parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, bought by Moray Tawse in 2012 from Domaine Maume, are certified organic. The 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains shows red cherry and plum fruit, gentle spice and supple, well-integrated tannins, in the lighter-framed style of Beaune Pinot Noir. It is served with roast chicken, duck or boeuf bourguignon.
