Vintage2018
Les Vignots is a village-level climat of Pommard, not a premier cru. It is bottled by Marchand-Tawse, a négociant house founded on 1 January 2011 by Pascal Marchand and Moray Tawse and based at Nuits-Saint-Georges, with Pascal Marchand still involved. He ran the Clos des Épeneaux at Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard from the age of 22. The house buys grapes and wine, and it also owns and farms parcels supplying roughly 30 per cent of its fruit. Of those, the Domaine Tawse parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, bought from Domaine Maume in 2012, are certified organic. The 2018 vintage, a warm year in Burgundy, shows dark cherry and plum fruit, earthy notes and the firm, slightly rustic tannins associated with Pommard. It is served with braised or roasted red meats, game or beef stew.
