Vintage2020
Les Noizons is a village lieu-dit in Pommard farmed by Domaine Georges Joillot. The estate was founded at Pommard in 1929 by Robert Joillot; his grandson Jean-Luc took over in the early 1980s with six hectares and ran it for close to forty years as Domaine Jean-Luc Joillot, and it was renamed Domaine Georges Joillot only from the 2019 vintage, in memory of Jean-Luc's father Georges. The fourth generation is in charge today: Jeanne Joillot, Grégoire Guidot and Simon Goutard, who has handled the vinifications since 2015. The domaine farms 1.42 hectares here, with an average vine age of about 40 years over five parcels, on oolitic limestone and gravel soils facing south to south-east. Fruit is hand picked and fully destemmed, vatted in concrete for about two weeks, then aged 12 to 14 months in Burgundy barrels of which 20 to 30 per cent are new, and bottled in winter without filtration. Farming is lutte raisonnée. The 2020 vintage, at 13.5% alcohol, shows Pommard's dark fruit and earthy structure. Serve with roast beef, duck or a firm cheese.
