Vintage2022
Fixin is a Côte de Nuits village immediately north of Gevrey-Chambertin, on the same limestone slope, and its Pinot Noir is sturdy and dark-fruited. Denis Mortet built up holdings here as part of the estate's northward expansion; he set up under his own name with four and a half hectares inherited from his father Charles, and since his death in 2006 his son Arnaud has run the domaine. This Vieilles Vignes cuvée comes from the estate's oldest Fixin vines. The 2022 shows dark fruit, earthy undertones and firm, structured tannins. It goes with braised beef, game dishes or a hearty coq au vin.
