Vintage2022
Bonnes-Mares is a red grand cru straddling Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. Domaine Denis Mortet bought just over a third of a hectare of it in 2014, in the middle section on the Chambolle side, planted to vines over seventy years old. Denis Mortet set up under his own name with four and a half hectares inherited from his father Charles and enlarged the estate steadily until his death in 2006; his son Arnaud then took over, moved the style towards infusion, and the domaine now runs to some sixteen hectares across around a hundred parcels. The 2022 shows dark cherry, blackcurrant and warm spice over firm, well-structured tannins. Decant it, or leave it several years in bottle; it pairs with roast venison, duck or a mature Burgundian cheese.
