Vintage2021
Les Groseilles is a Chambolle-Musigny premier cru sitting on the lower part of the slope beside Les Châtelots, on cemented pebbles and salmon-coloured clay and limestone. It is farmed by Domaine Anne et Hervé Sigaut, a family estate in Chambolle-Musigny: Maurice Sigaut bottled the first wines under the family name in the 1950s, beginning with a Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers, his son Hervé took over in the 1970s, and Anne Sigaut, who signed her first vintage in 2004, has run the property since Hervé retired in 2008. The domaine farms around seven hectares, almost all of it in Chambolle-Musigny, with a smaller holding in Morey-Saint-Denis. Weedkillers were abandoned more than a decade ago and the soils are worked instead. Fruit is picked by hand and destemmed gently, the vats are filled by gravity, and around a quarter new oak is used over a long élevage. Made from Pinot Noir, the 2021 shows red cherry, violet and delicate spice in a fine, silky tannic frame. Serve with roast poultry, veal or a light game dish.
