Vintage2020
Pommard 1er Cru Les Charmots is a red-wine site farmed by Domaine Ballot-Millot, the Meursault estate Charles Ballot has run since 2000, with family vines in the village since 1630. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, with some whole bunches in the ferment and fourteen to eighteen months in barrel. Pommard gives the sturdiest reds of the Côte de Beaune, built on firm tannin and dark fruit rather than perfume. It shows black cherry, plum and earthy, savoury notes with a firm, grippy finish that repays decanting or a few years in the cellar. Pair with braised beef, game or a stew. The 2020 vintage was warm, and the wine is ripe.
