Vintage2021
Pommard Premier Cru "Les Chaponnières" 2021 from Domaine Pierre Girardin is a Pinot Noir from a premier cru vineyard of Pommard in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. Pierre-Vincent Girardin, who founded this estate in Meursault in 2017 after years working alongside his négociant father Vincent Girardin, sources this cuvée through long-term grower relationships that give him access to Côte de Beaune sites. Les Chaponnières typically produces deeply coloured, structured Pommard with dark fruit, earth and firm tannins that soften with age. At 12.5% alcohol, the 2021 shows the cooler vintage's freshness alongside the site's natural power. Best served with roast beef, game or mature cheeses, ideally after some further cellaring.
