Vintage2019
This Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2019 comes from Pierre Girardin's eponymous Burgundy estate, based in Meursault and run by Pierre-Vincent Girardin, who launched the domaine in 2017 after growing up in the cellars of his father, the well-known négociant Vincent Girardin. Clos de Vougeot, one of the Côte de Nuits' largest grand crus, is planted entirely to Pinot Noir and known for producing powerful, structured wines that vary by parcel within the walled vineyard. Girardin's winemaking style favours restrained new oak and a focus on minerality and freshness over sheer concentration. The 2019 vintage, now with some bottle age, shows ripe dark cherry, spice and a firm, savoury structure. Decant and serve with roast beef, game or aged Comté.
