Poulsard is the Jura's pale native red, and Domaine des Marnes Blanches grows it on the marl soils of the Côtes du Jura near its Sud-Revermont base. The wine is translucent in the glass, with red berry, wild strawberry and a faint peppery note, and it carries low alcohol, since the grape accumulates little sugar. Poulsard is often served cool, closer to rosé temperature, and goes with charcuterie, salmon or a mushroom dish. Pauline and Géraud Fromont work the vines by hand, with the rows ploughed.
