Vintage2022
La Perrière is a premier cru on the lower slope at the southern edge of Gevrey-Chambertin, immediately beside the grand cru Mazis-Chambertin and separated from it by a track. The name comes from the quarry that once stood here, and the soil is correspondingly stony. Domaine Arnaud Mortet works a parcel of vines over sixty years old. The estate was created in 2016, when Arnaud Mortet and his sister Clémence took on about four hectares in the village from a retiring grower; the fruit is vinified in the Denis Mortet cellar to the same recipe as the family range. The 2022 is Pinot Noir, sorted three times and destemmed to leave the berries whole, with a proportion of whole bunches, native-yeast fermentation and around seventeen months in barrel. It shows dark red fruit, spice and firm but polished tannins. Pair with roast lamb, duck, or mature cheeses.
