Vintage2000
The Charles Noëllat name carries deep history in Burgundy, tracing back to a Vosne-Romanée estate founded in the early twentieth century that once farmed vineyards across the Côte de Nuits, including a share of Romanée-Saint-Vivant, before the bulk of its holdings were sold in 1988. This Auxey-Duresses Blanc, from the 2000 vintage, is a white Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune rather than the estate's historic Vosne-Romanée reds, now with a quarter-century of bottle age. At 12.5% alcohol, expect the developed notes of honey, dried apple and nuttiness that mature white Burgundy takes on over time, along with a still-present streak of acidity. Pair with roast chicken, mushroom dishes or aged Comté.
