Vintage2020
Schloss Johannisberg, perched above the Rhine in the Rheingau, is home to the oldest documented Riesling vineyard in the world, planted in 1720, and has used a system of colored wax seals, introduced by Prince Metternich in 1820, to distinguish its wines by quality and style ever since. Bronzelack denotes a dry, Trocken-style Riesling, and this 2020 vintage, at 13% alcohol, shows the crisp green apple, citrus and characteristic petrol-tinged minerality of Rheingau Riesling grown on the estate's steep, slate-and-loess slopes. Fully dry and food-friendly, it pairs naturally with schnitzel, roast pork, sauerkraut or grilled white fish. This is an accessible entry point into Schloss Johannisberg's Lack system, with the estate's characteristic precision and site expression.
