Vintage2018
The Zöbinger Heiligenstein is a Riesling vineyard in the Kamptal, where Weingut Bründlmayer owns old vines that give this Alte Reben ('old vines') bottling its depth. The estate, run by Willi Bründlmayer in Langenlois in the Kamptal region, has some plantings on this site dating back to the 1920s. The 2018 vintage in Central Europe was warm and early-ripening, producing concentrated, ripe Rieslings with fuller body. It shows intense stone fruit, citrus and the site's distinctive smoky, mineral character derived from its volcanic and sedimentary soils, framed by racy acidity that keeps the wine fresh despite its concentration. Pair with roast pork, spiced Asian cuisine, or firm mountain cheeses.
