Vintage2019
Morgeot is one of the largest and most historic premier cru climats of Chassagne-Montrachet, and it is fitting that Domaine Lamy-Pillot, based in the Hameau de Morgeot itself since its founding in 1973 by René Lamy and Thérèse Pillot, produces this red Pinot Noir bottling from the site. Chassagne-Montrachet is best known for white Burgundy, but its red wines, grown on limestone and clay soils, can show real depth and structure, and this 2019 vintage, at 13.5% alcohol, offers dark red fruit, earthy spice and firm tannins typical of a warm, generous Burgundy year. The domaine, now run by sons-in-law Sébastien Caillat and Daniel Cadot-Lamy, farms largely along organic lines. Pair with roast duck, beef or a mature cheese. A rewarding red from an estate rooted in this celebrated village.
