Ruchottes-Chambertin is the grand cru of Domaine Marchand-Grillot, one of the smallest in Gevrey-Chambertin, bordering Mazis-Chambertin and a short walk from Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. The estate takes its name from the 1950 marriage that joined the Marchand and Grillot families, growers here across seven generations; Jacques Marchand heads it, his son Étienne has made the wines since 2009 and his daughter Marion runs the commercial side. The wine is Pinot Noir grown on thin, well-drained limestone. It shows dark cherry, an iron-like mineral note and firm, fine tannins. Serve with roast game, aged beef or mature hard cheeses.
