Vintage2019
This Morey-Saint-Denis premier cru comes from Marchand-Tawse, a négociant house founded on 1 January 2011 by Pascal Marchand and the Canadian owner Moray Tawse, and based at Nuits-Saint-Georges. Pascal Marchand, who is still involved, worked at the Clos des Épeneaux in Pommard and at Domaine de la Vougeraie. The house buys grapes and wine across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and Chablis, for a range running from regional wines to grand cru, and it also owns and farms parcels supplying roughly 30 per cent of its fruit. Of those, the Domaine Tawse parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, bought from Domaine Maume in 2012, are certified organic. Morey-Saint-Denis lies between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and its wines fall between the two in style. The 2019 vintage shows dark cherry and spice with firm tannins. It is served with roast lamb, duck or a mature Burgundian cheese.
