Vintage2016
Château Troplong Mondot is a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in Saint-Émilion, occupying one of the appellation's highest points on the limestone plateau, with a history at the property dating back to the seventeenth century. The 37-hectare vineyard is planted to roughly 73% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on deep limestone deposits under clay soils that give the wines both richness and structure. The 2016 vintage combined ripeness with freshness in Bordeaux, and at 15.5% alcohol this wine shows dark plum, blackberry, licorice and mocha notes with dense, well-integrated tannins built for long ageing. Now overseen by winemaker Aymeric de Gironde under owner SCOR, the estate continues to produce wines of real depth. Decant well before serving and pair with roast lamb, beef or a mature Saint-Émilion cheese board.
