Clos Rousseau is a red-wine premier cru at the south-western end of Santenay, past the combe and towards Dezize-lès-Maranges. This Vieilles Vignes bottling comes from Domaine Bachey-Legros, a family estate with vines in Santenay since the nineteenth century and run since 2008 by the brothers Samuel and Lénaïc; much of the holding was planted between 1935 and 1955, with some parcels older still. It is 100% Pinot Noir. It shows dark cherry, blackberry and a savoury, earthy undertone, with firm but well-integrated tannins. Pair with braised beef, duck confit or a mature Burgundian cheese.
