This village Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc is Chardonnay grown on the limestone slopes around the village, a short walk from the grands crus Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. Alex Moreau took sole charge of the domaine in 2020, and from the 2021 vintage Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils became Domaine Alex Moreau, earlier vintages keeping the Bernard Moreau label; the family has grown vines in Chassagne-Montrachet since 1809. The vineyards are farmed without herbicides, on organic fertilisers and cover crops, and the whole crop is picked by hand; fermentation runs on native yeasts in barrel, with new oak between ten and twenty-five per cent. It shows citrus and white orchard fruit over a chalky finish. Serve with grilled fish, scallops or a mild triple-cream cheese. Select your preferred vintage above.
