Vintage
Corton-Charlemagne is a white grand cru on the limestone shoulder of the hill of Corton, above Aloxe-Corton at the northern end of the Côte de Beaune, and Alex Moreau bottles a small quantity of it. He took sole charge of the family domaine in 2020, and from the 2021 vintage Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils became Domaine Alex Moreau, earlier vintages keeping the Bernard Moreau label; the family has grown vines in Chassagne-Montrachet since 1809. Barrel-fermented on native yeasts, it shows citrus, white peach and toasted hazelnut over a firm, stony finish. Serve with lobster, roast veal or a well-aged hard cheese.
