Vintage2020
Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair, created in 1986 and based in Santenay, farms 14 hectares across Santenay and Saint-Aubin, 8.5 of Pinot Noir and 5.5 of Chardonnay. This premier cru Chardonnay comes from Les Frionnes, on the slope between the village of Saint-Aubin and the hamlet of Gamay, and is vinified by Jean-Baptiste Clair, who joined his parents in 2000 and has directed production since 2011; his late father Denis founded the domaine with Françoise. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was warm and relatively dry, generally producing concentrated whites with ripe fruit and moderate yields. Expect citrus, white peach and a mineral, saline finish. Pair with grilled fish, roast chicken or a soft goat's cheese.
