Champ Gain is a Puligny-Montrachet premier cru on the upper part of the slope, above Les Folatières, on thin, stony soil. Domaine Pernot-Belicard, run by Philippe Pernot, picks its Chardonnay here by hand and applies the sorting and whole-cluster pressing used across the range before barrel and lees ageing. The 2023 shows white flowers, citrus and a delicate mineral edge, the barrel ageing giving texture rather than overt oak. Pair with sole, roast chicken with morels or fresh goat cheese.
