Vintage
Bâtard-Montrachet is a white grand cru straddling the boundary between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, on the flatter, deeper ground immediately below Le Montrachet itself. Alex Moreau bottles a small quantity of it. He took sole charge of the family domaine in 2020, and from the 2021 vintage Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils became Domaine Alex Moreau, earlier vintages keeping the Bernard Moreau label; the family has grown vines in Chassagne-Montrachet since 1809. Barrel-fermented on native yeasts, it runs to white peach, hazelnut and a broad, saline finish. Serve at cellar temperature with lobster, roasted turbot or a mature Comté.
