Vintage2024
Bâtard-Montrachet is a white grand cru on the slope shared between Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, and Domaine Marc Morey & Fils works a little over a tenth of a hectare of it, enough for about one barrel. The 2024 is Chardonnay at 13.5% alcohol. Sabine Mollard, Marc Morey's granddaughter, has directed the family estate since 2008; it has been rooted in Chassagne-Montrachet since 1919. Farming is lutte raisonnée, with the soils ploughed through the year and the crop picked by hand; the wine spends about ten months on its lees in barrel with bâtonnage, then three to four months in vat, with new oak at around a third. Expect white orchard fruit, brioche and a long, saline finish. It pairs with roasted turbot, lobster in butter sauce, or aged Comté.
