What this collection covers

This collection gathers every wine in our cellar with at least one bottle offered under €50, prices including French VAT. It updates itself as prices and vintages change. Where a wine is offered in several vintages or formats, it appears here if one of them falls under the threshold.

What you find at this level

In Burgundy, this is the level of regional wines and of village wines from the less famous communes: Bourgogne Rouge and Blanc, Bourgogne Aligoté, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Marsannay, Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Santenay, Saint-Aubin, and the Côte Chalonnaise villages of Rully, Mercurey, Givry and Montagny. Many of these come from growers whose premiers and grands crus sit higher in the list, and they show the same hand at an earlier stage.

Outside Burgundy, the Loire offers Saumur-Champigny, Saumur Chenin and Sancerre; the Jura, ouillé Chardonnay and Savagnin, Poulsard and Trousseau; the Rhône, Côtes du Rhône and Saint-Joseph; Beaujolais, its crus; and Bordeaux, Médoc, Listrac, Moulis and Haut-Médoc reds.

How to choose

Choose by grower first: a regional wine from Michel Gros, Ballot-Millot or Sylvain Pataille is made with the same care as their crus. Then choose by style: for a red to open soon, Beaujolais, Saumur-Champigny or a Côte Chalonnaise; for a white, Saint-Romain, Montagny or Sancerre.

How long to keep

Most wines at this level are ready within a few years of the vintage; our cellar notes give 2 to 8 years for most of them. Serve reds at 16 to 18 °C and whites at 12 to 14 °C.
